Erica Basque and Brent Lavey of Norfolk had less than three weeks until their wedding day when the dominoes started to fall.

First a state and then a national emergency was declared over the infectious new coronavirus. There were runs on toilet paper and hand sanitizers. Gov. Ralph Northam ordered all schools closed.

The last couple of days it was pretty clear this was going to get worse before it was going to get better,” said Basque, 28.

On Monday, the couple decided to postpone their big day from April 4 to next April. By that point, President Donald Trump had advised people not to gather in groups of more than 10 — making a wedding just about impossible.
